About
Exmoor is often overshadowed by its neighbour Dartmoor, but it is arguably the more beautiful of the two — softer, greener, and with the added drama of coastal clifftop riding above the Bristol Channel.
This centre offers access to some of Exmoor's finest riding terrain, including routes that reach the sea cliffs near Porlock and the Valley of Rocks near Lynton. Native Exmoor ponies — a rare and ancient breed — are often seen on the moor, and the centre uses some Exmoor crosses in their string.
The combination of moorland, woodland, and coastal cliff riding in a single day is difficult to beat anywhere in England.
Getting There
Exmoor spans the Somerset/Devon border. The nearest town is Minehead (Somerset). Trains run from London Paddington to Taunton (approx 1.5 hours), then a taxi or bus to Minehead (40 minutes). By car, take the M5 and exit for Taunton or Bridgwater, then follow the A39.

A wonderful day's riding across Exmoor. The guide was excellent — informative about the moor's history and wildlife, and clearly knew the horses well. We reached the clifftops above the sea in the afternoon, which was breathtaking. The horses were well-cared for and well-matched to our ability levels. Would happily return for a multi-day ride.
